Awards

Wallace Cancer Care has won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services, a prestigious National Honour which recognises outstanding contributions made to local communities by volunteer groups devoting their time for the benefit of others.  It sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering, with the work of those awarded being judged of the highest standard.  

Our staff and a team of over 50 volunteers help anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer, irrespective of where they are being treated. The Award is for providing practical and emotional support for cancer patients and their families and carers from throughout the region.  

Wallace Cancer Care could not exist without its volunteers; they help in many areas from meeting & greeting visitors to the centres, providing services to inpatients, including a cocktail round to in-patients to help stimulate appetites, to help with gardening, administrative duties and fundraising.  Ultimately they improve the lives of people affected by cancer and we’re celebrating their hard work and dedication.
